An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the ECMS team at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. This role is ideal for a motivated and compassionate nursing professional who is passionate about delivering patient-centred care and contributing to continuous service improvement.
You will work as part of a dedicated nursing team, supporting high standards of clinical practice while acting as a role model for junior staff and students. This position requires flexibility to work 12-hour shifts across days, nights, and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
As a Staff Nurse, you will:
- Deliver high-quality patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care programmes independently
- Take responsibility for a defined group of patients within your clinical area
- Ensure seamless patient care from admission to discharge through effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and carers
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely patient records in line with professional standards
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to student nurses and healthcare assistants
- Assist senior nursing staff in developing training and orientation programmes
- Report and document incidents, complaints, or concerns appropriately
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and uphold best clinical practices
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration (UK PIN required)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work rotational shifts, including nights

Working Pattern & Flexibility
- Full-time and flexible working options available
- Rotational shifts including day, night, and weekend duties
- From April 2026, the standard working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours, with no loss in pay
