About the Role

As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a surgical ward setting. You’ll be responsible for managing a group of patients, ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care throughout your shift.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will also support and guide junior staff, student nurses, and healthcare assistants—helping to maintain excellent standards across the ward.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care & Patient Management

  • Deliver high standards of nursing care based on evidence-based practice
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments (physical, emotional, and social needs)
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate personalised care plans
  • Manage a delegated group of patients independently during shifts

Leadership & Team Support

  • Act as a team leader when required
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to junior staff and learners
  • Supervise and maintain quality standards of care delivery

Professional Practice

  • Work in line with **Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines and Trust policies
  • Recognise and work within your professional competencies
  • Promote patient health, wellbeing, and dignity at all times

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from Registered Nurses who have completed their preceptorship, ideally with experience or a strong interest in surgical care.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC registered)
  • Completed preceptorship programme
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care

Desirable

  • Previous surgical ward experience
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
