Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse to join a fast-paced Same Day Admissions Unit (SDAU). This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting patients preparing for elective surgical procedures.
As part of a collaborative and supportive healthcare team, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth patient flow, safe clinical practices, and positive patient outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-operative assessments and complete admission documentation
- Prepare patients for minor and major surgical procedures
- Monitor and support patients through same-day recovery pathways
- Administer treatments such as blood transfusions and iron infusions
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure safe patient handovers
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Follow clinical protocols, policies, and quality standards
- Manage departmental resources and stock efficiently
- Continuously update skills through evidence-based practice
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with a valid NMC PIN
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care
Desirable:
- Experience in surgical, pre-operative, or acute care settings
Working Details
- Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Employment Type: Permanent, Part-time (22 hours/week)
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Day shifts)
