Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse to join a fast-paced Same Day Admissions Unit (SDAU). This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting patients preparing for elective surgical procedures.

As part of a collaborative and supportive healthcare team, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth patient flow, safe clinical practices, and positive patient outcomes in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and complete admission documentation
  • Prepare patients for minor and major surgical procedures
  • Monitor and support patients through same-day recovery pathways
  • Administer treatments such as blood transfusions and iron infusions
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure safe patient handovers
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Follow clinical protocols, policies, and quality standards
  • Manage departmental resources and stock efficiently
  • Continuously update skills through evidence-based practice

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with a valid NMC PIN
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of patient care

Desirable:

  • Experience in surgical, pre-operative, or acute care settings

Working Details

  • Location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Part-time (22 hours/week)
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Day shifts)
