Registered Nurse (20 Hours/Week) – Role Overview
Position Details
- Location: Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand
- Employment Type: Permanent, Part-Time
- Hours: 20 hours per week (flexible schedule)
- Salary: Approximately $41,000 per year (based on 20 hours)
- Team: High & Complex Needs Team (HCNT)
As a Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in supporting the High & Complex Needs Team by ensuring high-quality clinical oversight and promoting best practices across the organisation.
This role blends clinical leadership, community healthcare coordination, and quality assurance, making it ideal for nurses who enjoy both hands-on support and strategic clinical contributions.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Care Planning
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments for individuals with complex support needs.
- Contribute to individual care plans and monitor ongoing health conditions.
- Provide professional nursing guidance to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Medication Oversight & Safety
- Review medication events and support improvements in medication management policies.
- Ensure safe medication practices across the organisation.
Infection Control & Clinical Governance
- Oversee and implement infection prevention and control procedures.
- Support clinical governance and quality assurance processes.
Collaborative Healthcare Support
- Work closely with support workers, whānau (families), schools, and healthcare professionals.
- Assist teams managing individuals with disability, mental health needs, and complex care requirements.
Leadership & Training
- Provide clinical advice, mentorship, and training to staff.
- Contribute to team meetings and initiatives that enhance service delivery.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse who combines strong clinical skills with a genuine passion for community-based healthcare.
Essential Requirements
- Current New Zealand Registered Nurse practising certificate
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
Preferred Experience
- Mental health nursing or dual diagnosis support
- Supporting individuals with trauma-informed care approaches
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Experience managing risk assessments in complex care settings

Additional Employment Requirements
To work with Community Care Trust, applicants must:
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand with at least 12 months remaining on their visa
- Possess a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence
