Job Description

A rewarding opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse (Alcohol and Other Drugs – AOD) to join a supportive healthcare team in a part-time role (18.75 hours per week). This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Working within a collaborative care model, the Registered Nurse will support individuals affected by alcohol and other drug use by providing primary health support, care coordination, referrals, and home-based detox assistance. The goal is to improve health outcomes and reduce harm through compassionate, evidence-based care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct evidence-informed AOD assessments and develop individualised treatment plans
  • Provide harm minimisation, relapse prevention, and motivational support to assist recovery
  • Coordinate care and referrals for consumers and their families or carers
  • Maintain accurate electronic clinical records and documentation in line with program standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external healthcare providers to deliver integrated care

Skills and Experience

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with at least two years of clinical experience
  • Experience in community nursing, alcohol and other drug services, or mental health care
  • Understanding of harm minimisation principles and recovery-focused support
  • Strong ability to engage with consumers and their support networks to assess needs and coordinate care
