About the Role
As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality clinical care to patients within the defence healthcare system. The position involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring patients receive coordinated care and appropriate treatment.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will support patient management across outpatient services and ward care, helping to maintain excellent clinical standards within the health centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centred nursing care and clinical assessments
- Develop and maintain individual patient care plans
- Work closely with doctors and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated treatment
- Conduct outpatient and ward assessments and treatments
- Assist with administrative tasks within the healthcare environment
- Support clinical operations within a Primary Medical Centre or outpatient setting
This role requires rotational shifts, including morning, afternoon, and night shifts, as well as weekend work when required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate strong personal integrity and professional ethics
- Hold current, unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Have at least 12 months of post-graduate clinical experience within the past five years in acute care, primary healthcare, or military health settings
- Maintain ongoing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in line with AHPRA requirements
- Hold a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
Experience working in a Primary Medical Centre, GP clinic, or Outpatient Department is highly regarded but not essential.
About Gaza Ridge Health Centre
Gaza Ridge Health Centre is located at Bandiana near Wodonga and forms part of the Albury Wodonga Military Area. This major defence base includes three barracks and supports key units such as the Army’s Logistic Training Centre and Joint Logistics Unit Victoria.
The base provides services to more than 5,000 Defence Force personnel.
The health centre offers a wide range of healthcare services, including:
- Primary medical care
- Dental services
- Nursing support
- Physiotherapy
- Mental health services
- Pharmaceutical care
It also operates a 20-bed low-dependency ward, providing care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Standard operating hours are 07:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday, although certain roles may require weekend or on-call coverage.

You are a compassionate and committed Registered Nurse who takes pride in delivering excellent patient care. Your ability to communicate effectively and put patients at ease is one of your greatest strengths.
You thrive in dynamic healthcare environments and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
