Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting routine health checks such as blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Preparing equipment for blood, plasma, and platelet collections
  • Safely inserting and removing needles during the donation process
  • Monitoring donors and managing any adverse reactions
  • Providing guidance to team members during collections
  • Supporting donors after donation and assisting with future bookings

Training and Support

Lifeblood provides a comprehensive paid training program combining practical on-the-job learning with flexible online training. This ensures you feel confident, supported, and fully prepared to deliver excellent donor care.

  • Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent)
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist with equipment setup
  • Capability to lift items between 9–22.7 kg when required
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster including weekends
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle

Travel Requirements

This role involves travel across the Hunter Region, usually within one hour of Newcastle. Occasionally, you may travel to locations such as Gloucester or Scone, which may include overnight stays. Travel typically occurs around twice per month after training.

Lifeblood values the wellbeing of its people and offers a supportive workplace with a range of benefits:

  • Minimum 5 weeks annual leave (up to 6 weeks)
  • Salary packaging – up to $15,900 for living expenses and $2,650 for meals and entertainment
