Job Description

If you’re an experienced nurse ready to step into a high-impact leadership role, this opportunity offers the chance to work at the heart of hospital operations. As a Site Nurse Practitioner, you will play a critical role in ensuring patient safety, managing hospital flow, and supporting clinical teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

This is more than a clinical role—it’s a position where your decisions directly influence patient outcomes, service efficiency, and overall care delivery.

As a Site Nurse Practitioner, you will work autonomously within a team of Clinical Nurse Practitioners and Patient Flow and Site Services, under the leadership of senior nursing staff. You will be responsible for the operational management of hospital sites, including both daytime and out-of-hours services.

This role places you at the centre of decision-making, working closely with clinical boards, emergency units, and senior on-call managers to ensure smooth and safe patient care pathways.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Flow Management

  • Coordinate and manage patient flow across hospital sites
  • Implement emergency admissions escalation policies effectively
  • Gather and analyse real-time data in high-pressure environments
  • Maintain a visible presence in critical areas such as Emergency Units

Clinical Expertise & Decision-Making

  • Use advanced clinical knowledge to assess and prioritise patient needs
  • Ensure timely and appropriate patient placement in line with organisational priorities
  • Deliver high-quality, responsive care during out-of-hours periods

Performance & Quality Improvement

  • Drive compliance with key performance standards
  • Place patient safety at the centre of all operational decisions
  • Work with senior leadership to identify and address system constraints
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven advanced clinical skills and experience
  • Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Experience in patient flow or hospital operations is highly desirable
  • Commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centred care

Working Environment

You will operate across major acute hospital sites, working closely with multidisciplinary teams in dynamic and often high-pressure settings. This role requires flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing clinical demands.
