This Practice Nurse job in South East London is based within a Category B prison, providing primary care services to patients in a secure setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a structured and supportive environment.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Thursday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • 24-hour service environment with structured shift patterns

Salary

  • Up to £55,086 per annum (full-time position)

Key Responsibilities

Deliver High-Quality Patient Care

Provide face-to-face clinical care, including comprehensive health assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals where necessary.

Manage Complex Clinical Needs

Use advanced clinical skills to assess and manage complex patient conditions, including long-term illnesses and wound care.

Work Within a Multidisciplinary Team

Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as doctors, mental health specialists, and substance misuse practitioners to ensure holistic patient care.

Clinical Accountability

Take responsibility for your own practice, ensuring all care is delivered within your scope of competence and clinical guidelines.

Promote Safe and Effective Practice

Identify risks, follow safeguarding protocols, and contribute to maintaining high clinical standards within the unit.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Adult Nursing)
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Ability to work independently as a clinical practitioner
  • Strong knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis, and patient care planning
  • Understanding of clinical audits and evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of safeguarding regulations for adults and children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in hospital, community, or prison healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with secure or custodial healthcare environments
