About the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU4)

EAU4 is a 24-bed acute medical unit providing short-term care (24–72 hours) for patients requiring rapid assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.

What You’ll Experience

  • A high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Exposure to a wide range of acute conditions including:
    • Cardiovascular and respiratory conditions
    • Gastroenterology cases
    • Chronic and complex medical needs
  • Close collaboration with Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Medical Unit (AMU) teams
  • Opportunities to manage patients with varying levels of acuity

Your Role as a Band 6 Charge Nurse / Sister

As a senior nurse, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care across the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate shifts to ensure smooth patient flow and high standards of care
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Act as a clinical advisor on nursing best practices and evidence-based care
  • Support and mentor junior staff, fostering a positive learning environment
  • Facilitate effective discharge planning and patient transitions
  • Maintain patient dignity, safety, and compassionate care at all times
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery
