About the Wharfside Clinic

Based at St Mary’s Hospital, the Wharfside Clinic is a leading HIV outpatient service providing high-quality care to over 3,200 patients. The clinic is widely recognized for its forward-thinking approach, multidisciplinary collaboration, and commitment to improving patient outcomes.

As part of this specialist unit, you’ll contribute to a service that continuously evolves to meet the complex and changing needs of people living with HIV.

Your Role as a Band 6 HIV Nurse

In this full-time position, you will work as an independent practitioner within a proactive multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care while developing advanced clinical skills in HIV and sexual health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and manage planned care for a group of patients independently
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care
  • Administer medications safely in line with Trust policies
  • Monitor patient progress and support safe, timely discharge planning
  • Conduct nursing procedures including STI screenings and cervical smears
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity and respect
  • Work under supervision to assess stable patients and those starting or switching HIV therapy
  • Participate in telephone triage within the Emergency Clinic (upon competency)
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists when required
  • Collaborate closely with Advanced Nurse Practitioners and multidisciplinary teams
