Are you a passionate Registered Nurse or Midwife looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families? This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated School Nursing Team in Wiltshire, delivering essential public health services that support the wellbeing of school-aged children.

As a Band 5 School Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in promoting physical, emotional, and mental health while working closely with families, schools, and community partners.

You will be part of a skilled and supportive team delivering the Healthy Child Programme, using a holistic and child-centred approach to improve health outcomes across the community.

This role offers a unique balance of autonomy and teamwork, allowing you to build strong relationships while contributing to public health initiatives that truly make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, child-centred nursing care within schools and community settings
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for children and young people
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and support vulnerable children and families
  • Promote healthy lifestyles through education and early intervention
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and multi-agency partners
  • Support the development of local school nursing services through innovation and best practice
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people, including those with complex needs
  • Participate in child protection conferences and multi-disciplinary meetings
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical records
  • Contribute to public health initiatives aligned with organisational priorities

Skills & Experience Required

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with valid professional registration
  • Post-registration clinical experience
  • Understanding of public health and school nursing services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Confident in clinical decision-making and accountability
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office and digital systems)
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle

Desirable

  • Practice Assessor/Supervisor qualification (or willingness to undertake)
  • Experience working with children, young people, or community health services
