Job Description

Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and passionate School Nurse to join our dedicated East Sussex School Health Service team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support the health and wellbeing of children and young people aged 5–19 years, working within a supportive and forward-thinking community healthcare environment.

Important Eligibility Information

At this stage, applications are open to:

  • Colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts
  • Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) staff
  • Medway Community Healthcare employees

Nursing roles are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

About the Role

As a School Nurse, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team led by Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHNs). You will deliver a wide range of public health interventions aimed at improving outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Your role will focus on prevention, early intervention, and promoting healthier lifestyles within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver public health programmes for children and young people aged 5–19
  • Support physical, emotional, and social wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Provide guidance and health education to young people and parents
  • Contribute to safeguarding and early intervention initiatives
  • Support community-based care and health promotion activities

You are a compassionate and adaptable nurse with a strong commitment to improving health outcomes for young people. Whether experienced or newly qualified, you bring enthusiasm, professionalism, and a patient-centred approach to your work.
