As part of one of Wales’ leading NHS organisations, you’ll play a vital role in delivering the School Health Programme, working collaboratively within a skilled multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

As a School Nurse, you will hold professional responsibility for a defined caseload, leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of public health initiatives within a set group of schools.

You will be at the forefront of early intervention, health promotion, and safeguarding—ensuring children receive the right care at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering the School Health Programme

  • Lead the nursing component of the School Health Programme for a designated school-age population
  • Promote physical, emotional, and social wellbeing among children and young people

Community-Based Care

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for children and families
  • Work within community settings to ensure accessible and responsive healthcare services

Safeguarding & Family Support

  • Prioritise safeguarding responsibilities, ensuring children are protected and supported
  • Build strong relationships with families, schools, and partner organisations

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Coordinate and delegate tasks within a skill-mix team
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)

Essential Qualifications

  • SCPHN (School Nursing) qualification or currently in progress
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • Nurse prescribing qualification (or working towards)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in a community healthcare setting
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel across designated areas
