About the Role

We are currently recruiting an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join a nurse-led primary healthcare team working within a youth custodial environment.

This leadership role blends clinical practice, staff supervision, and operational coordination to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality healthcare services.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help provide comprehensive care that includes clinical assessments, triage, care planning, and health education for young people in custody.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support nursing staff in daily clinical operations
  • Coordinate patient assessments, triage, and care planning
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing team members
  • Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare and custodial teams

Essential Skills and Experience

To succeed in this position, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Proven clinical leadership experience or previous ANUM experience
  • Background in primary healthcare, community health, or mental health settings
  • Strong clinical judgment and risk assessment skills
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities

Desirable Experience

The following experience will be highly regarded:

  • Previous work in justice, custodial, or forensic health environments
  • Experience supporting vulnerable or marginalised young people
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic or high-risk healthcare settings
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Additional Requirements

Applicants must be able to provide:

  • A valid Working With Children Check
  • A National Police Check
  • Eligibility to obtain Justice security clearance
  • Up-to-date immunisation records
