Role Overview: Registered Nurse – Long-Term Care
The Registered Nurse position at the Allendale Long Term Care Facility in Milton plays a critical leadership role in ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, and individualized care.
Reporting to the Manager of Resident Care, the Registered Nurse provides clinical guidance to nursing staff while overseeing daily care operations within designated resident home areas.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership in Resident Care
- Provide leadership and clinical direction to nursing and personal support teams
- Ensure care aligns with Ministry of Long-Term Care (MOLTC) standards and best practices
- Supervise frontline staff and support high standards of senior care services
Resident Health Assessment
- Conduct ongoing health assessments for residents
- Develop and maintain individualized care plans
- Monitor changes in resident health and implement appropriate care measures
Medication and Clinical Management
- Administer medications safely and maintain secure drug management systems
- Follow healthcare regulations regarding narcotics and controlled substances
- Support wound care programs and health monitoring initiatives
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and care teams
- Facilitate resident care conferences and physician rounds
- Advocate for resident well-being and healthcare needs
Quality Improvement and Administration
- Participate in quality improvement and risk management programs
- Assist with staff orientation and training
- Contribute to policy development and clinical practice improvements

Position Details
- Employment Type: Permanent
- Work Hours: Up to 15 hours per week
- Shift Timing: Day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Salary and Benefits
Halton Region offers a competitive compensation package designed to attract and retain top healthcare professionals.
- Salary Range: $39.07 – $56.00 per hour

Required Qualifications
To qualify for this Registered Nurse position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within interdisciplinary teams
- Knowledge of Residents’ Bill of Rights and long-term care compliance standards
Preferred Experience
While not mandatory, the following experience is highly valued:
- Two years of experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing
- Experience using healthcare systems such as Point Click Care (PCC), Point of Care (POC), and eMAR
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities
Employment and Screening Requirements
Candidates must meet the following employment conditions:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within the past six months)
- Two-step tuberculosis test completed before the first day of employment
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for resident care
