Registered Nurse Role Overview

Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse
Clinical Care and Resident Support
- Assess, plan, and evaluate resident care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals
- Monitor resident health conditions and document changes accurately
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
- Provide direct nursing care for seniors with dignity and compassion
- Encourage resident participation in therapy programs and recreational activities
Leadership and Team Coordination
- Provide leadership and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs)
- Support staff training, orientation, and professional development
- Monitor team performance and provide coaching when needed
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and safety standards
Communication and Care Planning
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, and healthcare providers
- Participate in care conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Communicate resident health updates to families and care teams
- Support resident admissions and re-admissions

Required Qualifications
Candidates applying for this Registered Nurse position in Halifax should meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
- Current registration with the Provincial Association of Registered Nurses
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Valid CPR and Emergency First Aid certification
- Strong clinical knowledge and healthcare communication skills
