Registered Nurse Role Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Villa Acadienne plays a vital role in promoting residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being. This position blends clinical expertise with compassionate care in a long-term care nursing environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Registered Nurse

Clinical Care & Patient Support

  • Conduct comprehensive resident health assessments
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments safely
  • Monitor resident conditions and document progress

Care Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team

Leadership & Team Support

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and care staff

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow infection prevention and medication management protocols
  • Ensure safe operation of medical equipment
  • Report safety concerns or incidents promptly
  • Maintain documentation according to Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN) standards

Essential Qualifications

Education & Professional Credentials

Candidates applying for this Registered Nurse position should meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Current registration or eligibility with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
  • Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum two years of experience in long-term care nursing
