This role is based at Ascot Hospital, part of Allevia Hospitals, a leader in private surgical care across Auckland.
About the Role – Surgical HDU Nursing in Auckland
As a Registered Nurse in the Surgical High Dependency Unit (HDU), you’ll care for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced post-operative support. You’ll be part of a collaborative, well-led team supported by an experienced Charge Nurse Manager and dedicated clinical educators.

This is a 0.9 FTE position, with shifts comprising a mix of 8- and 12-hour rosters (primarily 12-hour shifts), mainly Monday to Friday with occasional weekends.
What You’ll Bring
To succeed in this Surgical HDU nursing role, you will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand with a valid APC
- Minimum 2 years’ post-registration experience in ICU or HDU (adult surgical setting)
- Experience in New Zealand or comparable healthcare systems (Australia, UK, Ireland)
- Confidence working in fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environments
- Flexibility to work fully rostered shifts
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Your ability to remain calm under pressure, think critically, and deliver safe, evidence-based patient care will be highly valued.
