Your Role as a Registered Nurse

As a Registered Nurse, you will:

  • Deliver a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities.
  • Ensure patient safety and well-being while applying evidence-based practices.
  • Use critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional judgment in clinical decision-making.
  • Educate, counsel, and advocate for patients and their families.
  • Lead and support a holistic approach to health promotion and integrated care.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a rural healthcare setting.

This position provides hands-on experience in Emergency and Rural Nursing, requiring autonomous decision-making and adaptability to a broad scope of practice.

Qualifications & Skills Required

Essential:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Active or eligible CRNA (College of Registered Nurses of Alberta) registration.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS-HCP) certification.
  • Recent practice or completion of CRNA Medication Management & NextGenU Health Assessment modules if returning to practice after 5+ years.
  • Experience in ER nursing or rural/remote healthcare.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Connect Care systems.
  • Strong ability to work independently with limited resources.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Shift Length: 11 hours per shift
  • Shifts per Cycle: 40
  • Rotation: Days and nights, days off as per schedule
  • Temporary Duration: April 20, 2026 – April 30, 2027
  • Location: Slave Lake Healthcare Centre
