About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Ward, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care across a range of surgical specialties, including:

  • General Surgery
  • Urology
  • Colorectal Surgery
  • Gynaecology
  • Oncological Surgery

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care
  • Supervise and support Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and Assistants in Nursing (AINs)
  • Provide patient education and support for recovery, rehabilitation, or end-of-life care
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement and safety initiatives
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care outcomes
  • Act as a role model for best clinical practices and safety standards

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent qualification)
  • Current AHPRA registration (unrestricted)
  • Minimum 2 years post-graduate experience in an acute surgical setting
  • Experience in post-surgical care (e.g., orthopaedics, neurosurgery, plastics)
  • Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A proactive, patient-focused approach

Additional Requirements

  • Authority to work in Australia
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National Standards
  • Valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • National Police Check and immunisation compliance
