Role Purpose

The primary objective of this role is to provide safe, comprehensive, and high-quality nursing care in accordance with professional standards and the defined Scope of Practice. You will work in a dynamic ICU environment, supporting patients with complex medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver Exceptional Patient Care

• Provide high-quality nursing care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Ensure all patient care meets established clinical standards

2. Ensure Patient Safety

• Identify, assess, and manage clinical risks
• Implement infection prevention and control protocols

3. Enhance Patient Experience

• Create a supportive and healing environment for patients and families
• Maintain compassionate, patient-centered care practices

4. Maintain Accurate Documentation

• Record all nursing interventions clearly and accurately
• Ensure compliance with legal and clinical documentation standards

5. Support Team Development

• Contribute to a learning environment that enhances staff skills and competencies
• Mentor and guide less experienced team members

6. Manage Resources Effectively

• Ensure accurate charging and usage of stock and medical equipment
• Maintain accountability for resources within the unit

Required Qualifications

Essential Education

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing

Desirable Education

• Qualification in Midwifery
• Postgraduate certificate or diploma in a specialised nursing field

Experience Requirements

• Minimum Experience: No prior experience required
• Preferred: At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a specialised unit

This role is suitable for both newly qualified nurses and those with some exposure to specialised care environments.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control
• Understanding of pharmacology and scientific nursing principles
• Proficiency in patient assessment and care planning
• Competence in nursing documentation and record keeping
• Familiarity with healthcare legislation and compliance standards
• Basic Life Support certification (ACLS, ATLS, or PALS preferred for ICU roles)
• Ability to identify and manage clinical risks
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
