Position: Professional Nurse – Renal Services

Main Purpose of the Role
The Professional Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality nursing care within the defined scope of practice while working closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to support patient wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-focused nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional medical team
- Identify, prevent, and manage risks to maintain patient safety
- Promote a positive patient experience by creating a supportive care environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of all nursing procedures and patient care activities
- Support a learning culture that strengthens staff competence
- Ensure proper management and charging of medical supplies and equipment
Education Requirements
Essential:
- Degree or Diploma in General Nursing
Preferred:
- Midwifery qualification
- Postgraduate certificate or diploma in a relevant specialty area
Experience
Minimum: No prior experience required
Preferred:
- Around one year of post-graduate experience, particularly before placement in a specialised unit.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Candidates should demonstrate knowledge and competency in:
- Infection prevention and control
- Pharmacology and nursing science principles
- Patient assessment and nursing care planning
- Accurate nursing documentation and record keeping
- Relevant nursing legislation and healthcare regulations
- Basic Life Support training (ACLS, ATLS, or PALS for specialised units)
- Risk identification and patient safety practices
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
