About the POOL NURSE UNIT

The POOL NURSE UNIT at Moffitt’s Wesley Chapel Blood Draw Clinic provides critical support to our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Program. When oncologists obtain tissue or fluid samples for diagnostic purposes, these samples are analyzed by a highly skilled team of board-certified pathologists, molecular pathologists, hematopathologists, and laboratory medicine specialists.

Our state-of-the-art lab uses advanced diagnostic technologies to deliver fast and accurate results, helping guide treatment decisions for patients with common and rare cancer types.

Services Supported by the POOL NURSE UNIT

Nurses in this unit help facilitate a wide range of diagnostic and clinical services, including:

  • Cellular, tissue, and organ examinations
  • Molecular analyses and DNA testing

Position Highlights

As a Registered Nurse in the POOL NURSE UNIT, you will:

  • Deliver individualized, compassionate care to cancer patients and their families
  • Follow hospital and professional nursing guidelines, including ANA Code of Ethics
  • Incorporate Duffy’s Quality Caring Model, ensuring collaboration, respect, reassurance, and education in every patient interaction
  • Use the nursing process to assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care
  • Maintain accurate, age-appropriate documentation and care planning

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and plan nursing interventions
  • Provide patient and family education based on identified learning needs
  • Participate in evidence-based quality improvement projects within the clinic
  • Engage in ongoing professional development aligned with regulatory standards and nursing best practices

Ideal Candidate

The ideal nurse will have experience in a fast-paced blood draw clinic or ambulatory care setting, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient-centered oncology care. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven healthcare team.

Credentials and Qualifications

  • BSN from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited institution with at least 1 year of relevant experience or
  • ASN from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited program with 1 year of relevant experience
  • Active Florida RN License
  • BLS Certification
  • Applicants seeking Florida licensure by endorsement must have no unresolved NPDB reports
