Job Description

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is a key leadership position at St Vincent’s Lismore, playing a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. As a leader within the nursing team, you will drive clinical excellence, support staff development, and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the unit.

This role is central to achieving the hospital’s mission and vision by maintaining high standards across clinical care, education, and operational management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical operations and coordinate patient care within the unit
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate healthcare services
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives in partnership with the Director of Clinical Services
  • Manage professional and clinical issues within the nursing team
  • Ensure all care delivery is patient-centred and outcome-focused
  • Coordinate patient flow, discharge planning, and service integration
  • Promote best practices in WHS, infection control, and clinical governance

About You

We are seeking a confident and experienced nursing leader with a passion for delivering exceptional care and supporting team growth.

Essential Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience in a relevant specialty
  • Previous experience as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) or similar leadership role
  • Advanced Life Support certification (or working towards)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Sound knowledge of quality improvement, WHS, infection control, and clinical standards
  • Commitment to the mission and values of St Vincent’s
