About the Clinical Nurse Specialist Role

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based cancer care to patients across the region. This position focuses on improving patient outcomes through coordinated healthcare support, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clinical leadership.

Working within a jointly funded initiative between NT Health and Cancer Council NT, you will contribute to comprehensive cancer services while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Specialist Oncology Care

  • Provide patient-centred oncology and haematology care based on evidence-based practice.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and support treatment planning for cancer patients.
  • Ensure safe and effective delivery of oncology services within the Medical Day Stay Unit.

Coordinate Patient Support Services

  • Facilitate access to Cancer Council NT support services, including counselling and psychosocial support.
  • Assist patients and families in navigating healthcare services and support systems.

Clinical Leadership and Mentoring

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior nursing and midwifery staff.
  • Support professional development within the nursing team.
  • Promote best practices in oncology care delivery.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with doctors, allied health professionals, and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in case discussions and care planning to maintain high clinical standards across the region.

Professional Development Opportunities

If you are not yet working at a Nurse Level 4 (N4) classification, this role offers a structured pathway to help you reach that level.
