As an L&D Nurse, you will deliver expert care to mothers and newborns, supporting safe deliveries, postnatal recovery, and patient education. You’ll leverage your clinical skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans, ensuring every patient receives personalized attention. Your work directly impacts patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction—making every shift meaningful.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Observation
- Conduct admission and ongoing assessments of patients’ physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.
- Identify changes in condition and promptly notify physicians or charge nurses.
Care Planning & Implementation
- Develop and evaluate individualized care plans and daily goals in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Prepare patients for procedures, surgeries, and diagnostics while reducing anxiety.
- Follow safety protocols, including medication administration and physician order compliance.
Patient Education & Family Support
- Teach patients and families about care, recovery, and self-management techniques.
- Include families in bedside shift reports to ensure continuity of care.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Reassess patient conditions and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and quality improvement.
- Promote a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate Degree in Nursing and at least 1 year RN experience
- Registered Nurse license in Texas
- Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience in obstetrics, gynecology, or labor & delivery
