About the Role
DYHS is seeking a motivated Enrolled Nurse to provide primary health care services to Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities. The role focuses on delivering culturally safe clinical care while supporting chronic disease management and preventative health programs.
Clinic nurses play an important role in coordinating healthcare services and ensuring patients receive timely assessments, treatment, and follow-up care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care and Service Delivery
- Deliver safe and culturally appropriate nursing care in line with best practice standards
- Conduct triage for booked and walk-in patients and escalate clinical concerns when required
- Support doctors and clinical teams with patient care and care planning
- Assist with health assessments, screening, and chronic disease management
- Maintain infection prevention and control standards
Collaboration and Community Engagement
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated care
- Liaise with internal programs, external health providers, and community partners
- Promote respectful and responsive communication with patients and families
Quality and Professional Practice
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and Medicare billing within scope
- Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Support workplace health and safety standards
- Contribute to a positive team culture aligned with DYHS values
Essential Requirements
- Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
- Experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities, or strong cultural understanding
- Knowledge of Aboriginal health challenges and chronic disease management
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Current Senior First Aid certificate
- Computer literacy and clinical documentation skills
Additional Requirements
Applicants must also have:
- Working with Children Check
- Valid National Police Clearance (issued within 6 months)
- Valid Western Australian driver’s licence
- Willingness to complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA)
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
