About the Role
As a Registered Nurse with the Department of Corrections, you will provide direct and indirect professional nursing care. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting nursing assessments and developing individualized care plans
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by authorized practitioners
- Educating patients, families, and communities on disease prevention and health promotion
- Supervising and guiding other healthcare personnel
- Monitoring health outcomes and ensuring quality care through observation and record reviews
This position has three levels of responsibility to match experience and expertise:
Level I – Entry-Level Nursing
- Provides basic professional nursing care under guidance
- Assists with assessments, interventions, and evaluations
- Offers health education and may guide non-licensed personnel
Level II – Career-Level Nursing
- Performs full range of professional nursing duties
- Conducts nurse case management and patient education
- May provide limited supervision or training to other personnel
Level III – Senior-Level Nursing
- Handles complex cases with substantial independence
- Supervises staff and coordinates healthcare delivery across units
- Leads educational programs, quality improvement, and incident surveillance
Compensation
- Level I: $83,200 per year
- Level II: $87,125 per year
- Level III: $93,600 per year
Education & Experience Requirements
- Level I: Valid Oklahoma RN license or eNLC license
- Level II: Valid Oklahoma RN or eNLC license + 1 year professional nursing experience
- Level III: Valid Oklahoma RN or eNLC license + 2 years relevant nursing experience
