About BRAMS

Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that has supported the Broome community for more than 40 years. Based in Broome, Western Australia, the organisation provides culturally safe primary health care, aged care, and community health programs across the Kimberley region.

BRAMS focuses on person-centred, trauma-informed care, working closely with Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities to improve health outcomes and promote wellbeing.

Your Role

As a clinic-based Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive primary health care within a multidisciplinary team. This position focuses on community-based care, rather than hospital or inpatient work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care including triage, assessments, and clinical interventions
  • Support chronic disease management, immunisations, wound care, and health promotion
  • Manage recall systems, follow-up care, and care coordination activities
  • Mentor Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs) and Aboriginal Enrolled Nurses
  • Contribute to care planning, documentation, and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Ensure compliance with AHPRA standards, infection control, and clinical governance

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will bring strong clinical experience and a commitment to culturally respectful healthcare.

Essential Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum three years’ nursing experience, preferably in primary health or community care
  • Experience with clinical assessment, triage, chronic disease management, and care planning
  • Strong teamwork, mentoring, and organisational skills
  • Commitment to culturally safe healthcare practices
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence

Experience working with Aboriginal communities or within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation is highly regarded.
