About the Registered Nurse | Casual Role

As a Registered Nurse | Casual, you will bring your clinical knowledge, decision-making ability, and leadership skills to support residents’ wellbeing and daily healthcare needs. This flexible role is ideal for experienced nurses who enjoy working collaboratively while maintaining professional autonomy.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating resident care, conducting clinical assessments, and supporting a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Most importantly, you will help create a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for residents and their families.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver High-Quality Clinical Care

As part of the nursing team, you will:

  • Coordinate the daily healthcare needs of residents
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and clinical interventions
  • Deliver personalised aged care nursing support
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and patient care planning

Support Residents and Families

Compassionate care is at the heart of this role. You will:

  • Build meaningful relationships with residents and their families
  • Collaborate with allied health professionals and community healthcare providers
  • Provide reassurance and guidance during important health decisions

Provide Leadership Within the Care Team

Experienced nurses will also:

Skills and Experience Required

To succeed as a Registered Nurse | Casual, candidates should bring both professional expertise and a strong sense of compassion.

Essential Requirements

  • Current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Experience in clinical nursing or aged care services
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation abilities

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with clinical management systems
  • InterRAI experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts including nights and weekends

Salary and Work Schedule

  • Hourly Pay: $37.38 – $53.22 (based on experience)
  • Shift Type: Casual roster
  • Schedule: Includes weekend and night shifts as part of the fortnightly rotation
