About the Role

Ward 17 is an 18-bed trauma and orthopaedic unit, specialising in admissions and delivering comprehensive care to patients with a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) including Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), discharge coordinators, and frailty specialists—ensuring coordinated care and safe patient discharge planning.

Daily board rounds are a key part of the ward’s workflow, supporting effective communication and high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver High-Quality Patient Care

  • Provide safe, effective, and person-centred nursing care
  • Support patients through their treatment and recovery journey
  • Maintain a professional, compassionate, and holistic approach

Work Within a Multidisciplinary Team

  • Collaborate with AHPs, frailty teams, and discharge coordinators
  • Contribute to daily board rounds and care planning
  • Ensure continuity and quality of care

Professional Development & Learning

  • Engage with a dedicated Orthopaedic Clinical Educator
  • Develop specialist skills in trauma and orthopaedic nursing
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse on Sub-Part 1 of the UK NMC Register
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Pattern

  • 37 hours per week (reducing to 36 hours from April 2026 with no loss of pay)
  • Rotational shifts across a 7-day working pattern
