About the Role

As a Registered Nurse with the Department of Corrections, you will provide direct and indirect professional nursing care. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting nursing assessments and developing individualized care plans
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by authorized practitioners
  • Educating patients, families, and communities on disease prevention and health promotion
  • Supervising and guiding other healthcare personnel
  • Monitoring health outcomes and ensuring quality care through observation and record reviews

This position has three levels of responsibility to match experience and expertise:

Level I – Entry-Level Nursing

  • Provides basic professional nursing care under guidance
  • Assists with assessments, interventions, and evaluations
  • Offers health education and may guide non-licensed personnel

Level II – Career-Level Nursing

  • Performs full range of professional nursing duties
  • Conducts nurse case management and patient education
  • May provide limited supervision or training to other personnel

Level III – Senior-Level Nursing

  • Handles complex cases with substantial independence
  • Supervises staff and coordinates healthcare delivery across units
  • Leads educational programs, quality improvement, and incident surveillance

Compensation

  • Level I: $83,200 per year
  • Level II: $87,125 per year
  • Level III: $93,600 per year

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Level I: Valid Oklahoma RN license or eNLC license
  • Level II: Valid Oklahoma RN or eNLC license + 1 year professional nursing experience
  • Level III: Valid Oklahoma RN or eNLC license + 2 years relevant nursing experience
