Western District Health Service (WDHS) is offering exciting casual Enrolled Nurse opportunities in Victoria across a range of clinical areas. This role is ideal for nurses seeking flexibility while maintaining and expanding their clinical skills in a supportive healthcare environment.

Positions are available across:

  • Aged Care (Hamilton, Coleraine, Penshurst)
  • Medical Unit
  • Surgical Unit
  • Emergency Department

About the Role

As an Enrolled Nurse at WDHS, you will contribute to delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care across multiple departments. You will work alongside experienced healthcare professionals in both acute and residential care environments.

This role is well suited to nurses who are adaptable, motivated, and committed to ongoing professional development.

WDHS Acute and Clinical Services

WDHS provides a comprehensive range of hospital-based services designed to support the healthcare needs of the local community.

Medical Unit

Located at Hamilton Base Hospital, the Medical Unit includes 23 beds, with dedicated sub-acute rehabilitation services. The unit operates alongside Intensive Care, Emergency, Oncology, and Rehabilitation services, ensuring integrated patient care.

Surgical Services

The Surgical Unit offers exposure to a wide variety of procedures, including endoscopy, orthopaedics, urology, ENT, gynaecology, bariatric, and general surgery. With 32 beds, the department focuses on both same-day and acute surgical care.

Emergency Department

The Emergency Department provides 24-hour care and is recognised as a Regional Trauma Service. Its strategic location near critical care and imaging departments supports efficient and timely emergency treatment.

WDHS Aged Care Services

WDHS also delivers high-quality residential aged care services across multiple locations, ensuring comfort, dignity, and personalised care for residents.

Key Facilities Include:

  • Penshurst Nursing Home – 19-bed facility offering high-level care
  • Kolor Lodge Hostel – Low-level care with respite options
  • Coleraine Services – Wannon Hostel (39 beds) and Valley View Nursing Home (12 beds)
  • The Grange Residential Care – 50-bed facility for permanent and respite care
  • The Birches – 44 beds including sub-acute palliative care

These facilities are designed to provide a safe, supportive, and community-focused environment for elderly residents.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
  • Demonstrated clinical competency and safe nursing practices
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Relevant experience or postgraduate qualifications (desirable)
