Nurse Job Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) will work under the supervision of the Director of Quality Assurance and oversee healthcare coordination for individuals supported by the organization.

Key Responsibilities of the Nurse

Comprehensive Nursing Assessments

The Nurse performs initial and ongoing nursing assessments for individuals supported by the organization. Based on these evaluations, the nurse develops a Nursing Care Plan (NCP) outlining step-by-step healthcare interventions and staff responsibilities.

Regular follow-up assessments are conducted every 45 days, or sooner when medical conditions change.

Medical Records and Medication Oversight

Maintaining accurate medical documentation is essential. Responsibilities include reviewing Professional Medical Order Forms (PMOFs), verifying medication orders, and ensuring compliance with Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) and COMAR regulations.

The nurse also performs medication verification checks by comparing:

• Physician orders
• Pharmacy labels
• Medication administration records

This process ensures safe medication practices and prevents clinical errors.

Delegating Nursing Tasks and Staff Training

The Registered Nurse delegates healthcare tasks according to Maryland State Regulations 10.27.11 and the Nurse Practice Act. This includes:
