The Department of Justice WA is recruiting experienced Clinical Nurses to join the healthcare team at Greenough Regional Prison. This open recruitment pool allows suitable applicants to be considered for ongoing and future opportunities.

Currently, five permanent positions are available for immediate appointment.

About the Role

This role offers a unique opportunity to expand your nursing experience in a correctional healthcare environment. Based at Greenough Regional Prison, located near the coastal city of Geraldton, you will provide primary healthcare services to adults in custody.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to:

  • Primary healthcare delivery
  • Disease prevention and health promotion
  • Emergency response and clinical care
  • Care coordination for complex patient needs

The position offers 12-hour day shifts across a fortnight, providing a balanced schedule and supportive working environment.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for nurses with experience in:

  • Emergency nursing
  • General practice or primary care
  • Aboriginal health
  • Remote or community healthcare

Immunisation competency is required. Experience in correctional or detention healthcare is beneficial but not essential, as training and orientation will be provided.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident for permanent public sector positions

Recruitment Pool Information

This is an open recruitment pool, meaning applications are assessed on an ongoing basis. Successful candidates will remain in the pool for 12 months and may be offered permanent or fixed-term roles as vacancies arise.
