Nurse Job Overview

The Nurse in the Women’s Outreach Program is responsible for delivering essential clinical support and health services to individuals experiencing mental health or substance use challenges.

This role focuses on nursing assessments, medication management, health screenings, and patient education while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.

Key Responsibilities of the Nurse

Clinical Assessments & Care Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for individuals with behavioral health or substance use concerns
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on clinical needs

Health Screenings & Testing

  • Perform routine health screenings including RPR, TB, and Hepatitis C testing
  • Identify potential health risks and coordinate follow-up care when necessary

Patient Monitoring & Documentation

  • Observe, monitor, and document patient symptoms and behavioral changes
  • Maintain accurate clinical records using proper nursing care protocols

Crisis Intervention & Stabilization

  • Respond to and manage acute behavioral health crisis situations
  • Support individuals through stabilization while ensuring safety and clinical compliance

Education & Support

  • Provide health education for individuals, families, and staff members
  • Promote awareness of treatment plans, medication adherence, and wellness strategies

Collaborative Care

  • Participate in case staffing and treatment team meetings
  • Work closely with clinicians, counselors, and program staff to coordinate patient care

Administrative & Compliance Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and agency policies
  • Manage clinical supply inventory and assist with staff training when needed
