Western Health is seeking a passionate and experienced Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join the team at Sunshine Hospital’s Ward GC, a specialised Dementia Management Unit and Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) ward.

About the Associate Nurse Unit Manager Role
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is responsible for supporting the operational and clinical leadership of Ward GC. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining excellent care standards while mentoring nursing staff and promoting a supportive team culture.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based geriatric and dementia care, ensuring patients and their families receive compassionate and personalised support throughout their healthcare journey.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Support the Nurse Unit Manager in the day-to-day management of the ward.
- Maintain high standards of clinical governance and patient safety.
- Promote best practices in dementia care and geriatric nursing.
Staff Mentoring and Team Development
- Provide guidance and mentorship to nursing staff and junior team members.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and knowledge sharing.
Patient-Centred Care
- Ensure the delivery of person-centred care tailored to individual patient needs.
- Work with families and caregivers to support holistic patient wellbeing.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Partner with medical, allied health, and support teams to coordinate care plans.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient care reviews.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager at Western Health, candidates should demonstrate strong clinical expertise and leadership capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) registration with AHPRA.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent clinical experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in the relevant nursing specialty.

- Proven leadership and management abilities appropriate to the ANUM role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and team engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
