Key Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in the Acute Medical Unit, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based patient care independently and as part of a team
  • Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate outcomes
  • Administer treatments, medications, and complex nursing procedures
  • Support patient health education and promote wellbeing
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for effective treatment and discharge planning
  • Supervise junior staff, students, and healthcare assistants when required
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure continuity of care
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic care environment

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Recent experience in an acute clinical setting
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Competency in key nursing procedures (IV therapy, ECG, catheterisation, etc.)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in Acute Medical Admissions, Emergency Department, or SDEC
  • Teaching, mentorship, or leadership experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Basic IT proficiency with willingness to learn clinical systems
