Key Responsibilities
Specialized Clinical Care
- Provide direct care for patients requiring wound, ostomy, and continence management
- Conduct detailed assessments and develop personalized care plans
- Apply evidence-based clinical practices to improve patient outcomes
Education & Clinical Support
- Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members on best practices
- Offer consultation and guidance to nursing staff (in-person or remote)
- Recommend appropriate treatment plans and specialty products
Leadership & Collaboration
- Participate in clinical leadership and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams and external healthcare providers
- Mentor and precept nursing staff when required
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
- Registered Nurse with specialization in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (NSWOC)
- Completion of the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) may be considered
- Canadian Nurses Association Certification WOCC(C) is an asset
- Membership with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada preferred
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, ideally in community care
- Experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care (direct or consultative)
- Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
- Excellent communication and teaching abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
