Key Responsibilities

Specialized Clinical Care

  • Provide direct care for patients requiring wound, ostomy, and continence management
  • Conduct detailed assessments and develop personalized care plans
  • Apply evidence-based clinical practices to improve patient outcomes

Education & Clinical Support

  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare team members on best practices
  • Offer consultation and guidance to nursing staff (in-person or remote)
  • Recommend appropriate treatment plans and specialty products

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Participate in clinical leadership and quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external healthcare providers
  • Mentor and precept nursing staff when required

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Registered Nurse with specialization in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (NSWOC)
  • Completion of the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC) may be considered
  • Canadian Nurses Association Certification WOCC(C) is an asset
  • Membership with Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada preferred

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, ideally in community care
  • Experience in wound, ostomy, and continence care (direct or consultative)
  • Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and teaching abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
