About the Community Health Nurse Role
This Community Health Nurse position is based at the Gamètì Health Centre—the community’s primary healthcare facility. In this role, you’ll deliver a wide range of primary healthcare services, from routine check-ups to urgent care, ensuring accessible and high-quality care for all residents.

Your Responsibilities as a Community Health Nurse
As a Community Health Nurse, your role goes beyond clinical care. You’ll take a holistic, proactive approach to improving community wellbeing.
Comprehensive Patient Care
- Deliver community health programs including maternal health, child wellness, and chronic disease management
- Conduct immunization programs and communicable disease monitoring
- Provide pre- and post-natal care, school health services, and routine screenings
Emergency & Clinical Care
- Respond to urgent and emergency medical situations
- Apply critical thinking and evidence-based nursing practices
- Deliver safe, patient-centered care in line with professional standards
Health Promotion & Education
- Lead health promotion initiatives and disease prevention programs
- Educate individuals and families on health management and wellness
- Adapt care approaches to meet diverse community needs
Qualifications & Requirements
We’re looking for a skilled and compassionate Community Health Nurse who is ready to take on a dynamic and rewarding role.
Essential Criteria
- Nursing Degree (BSc Nursing or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in emergency, critical care, or remote healthcare settings
- Eligibility for registration with the College and Association of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN)
